internationale tanzmesse nrw: evaluation confirms global significance
“Its consistently practised international character makes the internationale tanzmesse nrw one of the most significant dance events worldwide,” states the commissioned evaluation, commissioned by nrw landesbuero tanz and carried out by the Hamburg Institute for Vocational Education and Training, on the tanzmesse and, in particular, on the most recent edition in 2024.
The evaluation was based on guided interviews with exhibitors, artists, trade visitors and partner institutions. The result: the internationale tanzmesse nrw is – alongside Cinars (Canada), APAP (USA), PAMS (Korea) and YPAM (Japan) – one of only five comparable events worldwide and is regarded as the “gateway to the European dance scene”. The evaluation highlights just how important, enriching and invigorating tanzmesse is for the dance scene in Europe and beyond: it provided artists from over 50 countries with an indispensable platform for artistic exchange and presentation – whilst fostering trust, inspiration and long-term partnerships that cannot be captured by figures alone.
